1936  After we had taken care of all the stations around Cook Inlet we went over to Kodiak Island where are found the famous Kodiak brown bears, the largest in the world.
1964  When a boat's crew went ashore to bury her above the Unimak shoreline . . . a couple of Kodiak bears . . . disputed their right to land.
